Legislative Body
The Town is a municipal corporation (incorporated in 1908) and a political subdivision of the State of Colorado. The Town of Parachute became a Home Rule Municipality effective May 18, 2007 after the approval of the Charter by the voters at a Special Election held May 1, 2007.
PowersThe Board of Trustees has the power to:
- Enact and provide for the enforcement of all town ordinances necessary to protect life, health, and property
- Declare, prevent, and summarily abate and remove nuisances
- Preserve and enforce good government, general welfare, order, security of the Town, and its residents
